FAQ

Where is your office located?

My office is downtown:

237 West Patrick Street
Frederick, MD 21701

How long is a typical session?
Both individual and couples sessions are 50 minutes long.
Do you accept insurance?

I do not accept insurance.

If you have out-of-network mental health benefits as a part of your insurance plan, I can provide a monthly “Superbill,” which you can submit to your insurance provider, and you may receive 0-100% reimbursement of your out-of-pocket cost.

What do I do to get started?

The easiest way to get started is to email me at amanda@nestcounselingcenter.com and schedule a free 15-minute phone consultation.

What is a free initial phone consultation?

This consultation is a time to share what brings you to therapy. More importantly, it is an opportunity for you to see if I fit your needs.

At this point in life, I know I’m not for everyone, and I won’t take it personally if you decide I’m not the right therapist.

More often than not, the free phone consultation ends with scheduling your first session and feeling less anxious about what therapy will be like.

Do you have a cancellation policy?

Like most therapists, I require a 24-hour notice for cancellation.

If, for some reason, you cannot attend the session without canceling or fail to give 24 hours’ notice, I will charge your card for the total amount of the session.

Do you work with men? Women? Couples? Adolescents?

All of the above!

While I work primarily with adult individuals and couples, I do see adolescents 15 years and up.

Are you LGBTQIA-friendly?
I prefer to think of myself as LGBTQIA+-affirming. What does this mean for you as a client? It means that I am not only welcoming clients of diverse identities, but I believe it is essential to validate the experiences of LGBTQIA+ identifying clients and hold space for them to explore the complexities of these social identities.
Do I have to lie on a couch?

While my office has a couch, you are not required to lie on it!

As my clients become more comfortable, they might like to remove their shoes and curl up on the couch with a comfy pillow or blanket.

What apps make your life better?
Hands down, my top three apps are: Podcasts (it’s my go-to), Snapchat (to keep in touch with my kids), and Mindbody (to find an excellent outdoor yoga class nearby).
